We need SPCBA!

... or the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Business-school Applicants.

Like all normal B-School applicants, I get really excited when I see an email in the "2006Apps" folder of my Yahoo! account. It would not be a stretch to say that my heart skips a beat or two when I see that the sender is MIT Ad Com.

So now, why would you, if your name was "MIT Ad Com", send me an email with a "December Update" on MIT Sloan/LFM when I am waiting breathlessly for an interview call???

Hello? It is too late for marketing folks! I have ALREADY applied; spent three whole days on campus even. So would you please not be sooooo cruel. Please?

Of course, one can say that it is my fault for not anticipating what was in store when the email subject line read "December Update". But then, how am I to know what an MIT Sloan interview invite looks like? I haven't received one yet. I may retract my anguish-ridden statements once one of those pops into my inbox!

HAHAHA! love it! i have a couple offenders too:

1. HBS - same story. Saw an email in my box from "Harvard Business School" but it was just a newsletter! (but got interview same day - hope that happens to you, too!)

2. Kellogg - rolling admissions. how am i supposed to be a productive member of society when the phone call or status change(ding/WL) could come at any time before 1/8??

So when is the first sitting? what color flag do we have? what's the tag line? do we have a mascot? one or one-per-year?

anyway - I need an appointment to voice my opinions in the very first sitting!!!

Same here to wait for MIT's invitation. Wonder why MIT is so slow to send out invitations...according to admission411, only 15% received invitation, maybe we still have hope....

I am hoping that it is MIT that is being slow and not me (to catch on, that is).

Though some schools (like Wharton) do a lot to make the process transparent and almost none mean any harm, it seems that things always are hard on the applicants and little things that can make life easier are overlooked.

It is worse that those who have been through this phase forget it as soon as they get into B-School.

This is been pretty important for the students to put every possible guide in this regard, because in most of the cases these are either considered and said to be important. english grammar online check
